AirVape X Review: A Portable, Discrete, Versatile Vape

Vaping often calls to mind devices like the Juul, or even massive mods which look akin to a stick of D batteries. While many smokers started off with rolling papers or pipes, vapes offer a discrete alternative over other methods. Arguably the best portable vape on the market is the AirVape X. Learn more in this AirVape X review, from what it is to how to use it!

What is the AirVape X Dry Herb and Concentrate Vape?

How to use the AirVape X

AirVape X Review - Herb Concentrate Compartment

Using the AirVape X is pretty simple. First, charge your AirVape X up with the included micro USB cable. If you’re using loose leaf material, just pack the chamber lightly. You’ll want to ensure proper airflow. You may want to grind your herb first. Then, press the power button three times to power your device on. This also turns the device off, however there’s an auto-shutdown feature too. After you’ve turned on the AirVape X, use the buttons on its front to set your desired temperature. When the AirVape X reaches that temp, it vibrates to let you know it’s ready for use, just like at Applebee’s or Olive Garden when you’re waiting for your table. Minus the breadsticks.

Then, just inhale through the mouthpiece. It’s as easy as taking a pull, no need to press and hold a button. The auto-shutoff timer powers the AirVape X off automatically after three minutes, though you may turn off your vape manually by pressing the power button three times quickly.

AirVape X temperature settings:

  • Dry herb: 380-400 F
  • Concentrates: 400 F +

AirVape X Review Verdict: Portable, Discrete, and Functional

Clocking in at under $200, the AirVape X is a solid device. It’s deceptively easy to use. Because there’s about 90% less vapor production, you might wonder if it’s not functioning. A friend and I were initially baffled, and questioned our competency. Neither of us had ever used a vaporizer before. Frowning, we glanced at one another and shrugged.  “Maybe we’re just old, man,” my friend hypothesized.

But we eventually figured out how to use the AirVape X. Largely, it was just a matter of expecting more vapor production. However, less vapor makes the AirVape X discrete, a major win for the vape. At first, we had the temperature too low. For vaping dry herbs, you’ll want to set the AirVape between 380-400 F. If you want increased vapor, 420 and up will produce more clouds, though it’s still barely noticeable. Similarly, there’s virtually no smell at all. Vaping concentrates, you’ll want to use a higher setting.

Draw resistance is solid, and hits are pretty full. I liked the magnetic lid which cleanly snapped into place. Being able to just inhale through the mouthpiece without having to hold down a button makes the AirVape X a breeze to operate.

There’s almost no visible vapor or smell, which makes the AirVape X one of the best vaporizers available. Granted, if you’ve never used one before, you might be slightly confused by the lack of voluminous clouds. I enjoy the slim profile, quick charging time, and good battery life.

Unfortunately, the mouthpiece gets piping hot. Thankfully, an included silicone mouthpiece alleviates this problem, though you won’t want to forget using the “mouthpiece condom.” Additionally, while you can find suggested temperature settings for both herbs and concentrates online, it would be helpful had Apollo included these in the user manual in the box. I suppose the assumption is that anyone buying a vaporizer is a seasoned pro, though the AirVape X’s ease of use makes it perfect for beginners and vaping pros alike.

AirVape X Vaporizer review: Final thoughts

Ultimately, the AirVape X is arguably the top vaporizer on the market. As a dry herb and concentrate vape, the AirVape X boasts unparalleled versatility. In real-world use, it’s intuitive and almost deceptively discrete with 90% less vapor production and basically no smell. The mouthpiece gets pretty toasty, and the suggested temperature settings aren’t in the manual. Aside from these minor complaints, the AirVape X dry herb and concentrate vape is an affordable, intuitive, and functional vaporizer.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Easy to use
  • Compatible with vaping flowers and concentrates
  • Compact
  • Lots of included accessories

Cons:

  • Mouthpiece gets really hot
  • Suggested temperature settings not in user manual
